I have to pick myself up by my Bootstraps after dancing with somebody...

Another new great band I heard because of "Grey's Anatomy" is Bootstraps.

Their rendition of the Whitney Houston pop hit "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" is one of my new "always-on-repeat" songs.

(Sometimes I wonder if my listening to these artists loudly in the shower shares them with my neighbors in the apartment building... probably not.)

What was once a diva-drenched, power-driven hit becomes a hit of a different kind when performed by Bootstraps. The simple change from female to male singer helps, but I think it is the duo of piano with guitar mixed with the scruffy-sexy voice of the lead vocalist that does it for me.

If it weren't for the fact that I know the original, I would have no clue it was supposed to be upbeat. It is quickly turned into a soulful plea to any girl who thinks she is the right one for the guy.

It almost brings me to tears on the last refrain when it basically just goes to vocals and sparse piano chords...

"Oh I wanna dance with somebody, I wanna feel the heat with somebody. Yea, I wanna dance with somebody, with somebody who loves... me..."

I can't really say much more. Here are the lyrics, but you should look up the Bootstraps version. Trust me.

__

Clock strikes upon the hour,
And the sun begins to fade.
Still enough time to figure out,
How to chase my blues away.

I've done alright up till now.
It's the light of day that shows me how.
When the night falls...
The loneliness calls.

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody,
Wanna feel the heat with somebody.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody,
With somebody who loves me.

I've been in love,
And lost my senses,
Spinning through the town.
Sooner or later the fever ends,
And I wind up feeling down.

I need a woman who will take a chance,
On a love that burns hot enough to last.
When the night falls,
My lonely heart calls.

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody,
I wanna feel the heat with somebody.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody,
With somebody who loves me.

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody,
Wanna feel the heat with somebody.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody,
With somebody who loves me.

Oh, I wanna dance with somebody,
Wanna feel the heat with somebody.
Yeah, I wanna dance with somebody,
With somebody... who loves... me.

The Sun's come up for Sleeping At Last

I have a new favorite song and I'm not afraid to admit it.

You may never have heard of him, but that is probably why I love him so much!

Sleeping At Last is a guy named Ryan who I had never even heard of until I looked up some great, unique covers I heard while watching "Grey's Anatomy." (Don't judge me for my tv preferences.)

I looked up the band who I had heard singing "Private Eyes," originally by Hall & Oates, and I stumbled on an artist who would quickly become my new obsession.

While he has some great songs, like his cover of "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and his instrumental-only song "Moon," my favorite by him is easily "Sun."

What I just found out is that "Sun" is featured in the very beginning of the trailer for the new movie of the John Green book, "The Fault In Our Stars."

This song is so amazing, it's hard to express in words - except its own lyrics, that is.

It is bursting with vibrant life, it's almost like you can feel the so-called "sun" beaming through a dark room and pouring into the cracks.

Maybe it is the song-out-of-silence feeling I get while hearing it, like it just came into being because the music itself had to be heard... I'm not sure. All I know is that this song is one for the sharing, especially with the masses.

I will list the lyrics below, as per usual, but even that will not do this song justice. You should really listen to this song. It is well-worth it, trust me.

With golden streams
Our universe was clothed in light
Pulling at the seams
Our once flaring world now friends with fire

We may fall in love
Every time we open up our eyes
I get spaced in time
Takes violent things, angry things
And makes them kind

We are the dust of dust
We are the apple of God’s eye
We are infinite
As the universe will hold you inside

Infinity times infinity
Infinity times infinity times infinity
Infinity times infinity times infinity times infinity
Let there be light, let there be light
Let me be right

The dust of dust
We are the apple of God’s eye
We are infinite
As the universe will hold you inside

We are the dust of dust
We are the apple of God’s eye
We are infinite
As the universe will hold us inside

Ooohhh ooohh ooohhh
Ooohhh ooohh oohhh
Let there be light, let there be light
Let me be right

With golden streams
Our universe was brought to light
That we may fall in love
Every time we open up our eyes
